Paden board hires temporary JH teacher, approves SRO contract and bus driver assignments

The Paden Board of Education on July 7 approved multiple personnel actions. The board voted to employ Gabby Watts as a temporary emergency junior-high teacher for the 2025-26 school year (motion by Kelly Jo Seaton, seconded by Brandy Moore) and approved a contract with the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office for a part-time School Resource Officer for SY 25-26. Both votes passed with Johnson, Moore and Seaton voting yes.
The board also approved extra-duty assignments naming Curtis Lee and Chance Dean as bus drivers. Two extra-duty items—JH/HS Academics and Esports—received no action during the meeting. The minutes record that Michelle Stiles and Jay Scoggins were present for the executive session where employment items were discussed; no action was taken during executive session itself prior to open-session votes.
