City approves AFSCME settlement, fire alarm contract and appoints JETSBA representative (one abstention)

Mayor Robert Hasty moved to adopt a settlement agreement between the City of Ottawa and AFSCME Local 2819 concerning contracting out grievances; the resolution had been on file since June 16, 2026 and was adopted unanimously. Commissioner Marla K. Pearson moved to authorize a fire alarm monitoring inspection and service contract with Thompson Electronics Company; that resolution was likewise adopted unanimously.
Mayor Hasty also moved to appoint Don Ganiere as the City’s representative to the JETSBA subcommittee. The council adopted the appointment; the minutes record that Commissioner Thomas G. Ganiere abstained from that vote while the remaining members voted aye.
