Commission member Kim Czyz raised concerns about the pass/fail ratio on the General Labor/Building Maintenance exam and discussed the issue with Tom Duttlinger, who requested an opportunity to review the test. Because Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) administers the exam, the commission approved a plan for Duttlinger and Commission member Kim Czyz to review the exam together at IVCC to assess which questions remain applicable.
Clerk Haley Roalson asked whether a conflict of interest existed because Duttlinger serves the City in a vendor capacity while performing the Public Works Director role; the commission determined there was no conflict, noting that City employees report to him in that capacity. The commission moved to approve the IVCC review (moved by Jim Reilly, seconded by Maribeth Manigold) and recorded the motion as passing with all ayes.
