High school celebrates district football title; band and FFA post honors

MS/HS Principal Tammy Hixon told the board that October was busy with student activities and athletics, including Homecoming and Senior Night on Oct. 25. "October was a whirlwind month filled with student activities, athletic events, and school-wide engagements," Hixon said. The board record notes the Black Bears earned the district championship and will advance to the playoffs.
Hixon also reported on band achievements: Brooke Weaver placed third chair out of 78 trombone auditioners for the OSSBDA Small School All-State Honor Ensemble. She listed student attendants and the Band Queen selection for the winter concert. In FFA, the Cattle Handling Team won first place in the Northeast District and is scheduled to compete at state on Dec. 6; the chapter recently hosted a blood drive.
