Ottawa schedules Vehicle Maintenance and Telecommunicator exams for late October–early November

The City of Ottawa Civil Service Commission moved April 10 to schedule the Vehicle Maintenance and Telecommunicator exams during the same testing window in late October to early November. The motion, recommended by Commissioner Kim Czyz and seconded by Richard Nesti, passed unanimously.
Haley Roalson told the Commission that IVCC's Ottawa Center is undergoing organizational changes that have delayed confirmation of exact testing dates; IVCC estimated slots will be available in the late-October to early-November timeframe. Roalson also said the Ottawa Police Department requested the Telecommunicator testing because the current Telecommunicator eligibility roster is set to expire on Jan. 7, 2027. Commissioners said holding both exams in the same window would reduce administrative workload and help prevent the Telecommunicator roster from expiring before new testing is completed.
Staff will schedule specific dates once IVCC confirms testing availability and will return to the Commission to select and approve testing dates.
