Trustees approve pay raise for newly certified paramedic

The Morgan Township Board of Trustees approved a pay increase for an in-house firefighter who completed paramedic training. Assistant Chief Griffith asked the board to increase Riley Abrams’ hourly rate from $19.25 to $23.25 per hour to reflect completion of paramedic school and passage of the national registry, effective Aug. 2, 2026.
"I need a resolution to increase the hourly rate of Riley Abrams from $19.25 an hour to $23.25 an hour to reflect her completion of Paramex school and passing the national registry effective 08/02/2026," Assistant Chief Griffith said. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the resolution. Griffith noted Abrams joined as an EMT and advanced through training over two years, calling the outcome a long-term success for the township’s fire department.
Griffith also told trustees the department will host an ISO visit on Aug. 31; ISO ratings influence insurance classifications and premiums. Trustees congratulated Abrams and directed that the pay change be implemented.
