Ron Swinford addressed the commission during the non-agenda public comment period and asked that a previously changed zoning designation for the site linked to the data center be reverted and processed through the planning commission so citizens can participate. "Change it back and run it through the process just like every other parcel would have," Swinford said, adding that a recorded vote is important for public accountability.
Swinford said the zoning was changed before the property was publicly marketed and that citizens were not given a chance to review the change in advance of later transactions. He asked the commission to allow the planning commission and public hearings to consider the parcel; he said doing so would likely preserve the same ultimate outcome but would restore public input and a recorded vote for citizens to reference.
