Immediate abutters David and Sharon Valkman said they would not oppose the variance if the applicants provide screening along the easement; the neighbor offered to license planting along the property line and estimated about 30 evergreen trees at a landscaper cost of roughly $10,837.50. The board’s motion to grant the variances included a condition that the applicant install 150 feet of screening along the edge of the easement toward 10 Cottage Place. The motion passed by majority vote, and the applicant said he was willing to work with neighbors on species and placement.
