Union City wins $264,000 in grants for first‑floor city building improvements

Union City Borough Manager Cindy Wells told council the borough has received three grants totaling $264,000 for continuing improvements on the first floor of the City Building. The awards are a $75,000 ECGRA Anchor Building Grant, a $35,000 Helping Today Grant with the ECF, and $154,000 from the Community Project Fund provided through Congressman Mike Kelly’s office.
"This provides a total of $264,000 for continuing improvements on the first floor of the City Building," Wells said during the Oct. 7 meeting. Council did not record any questions about the grant terms at the meeting. Officials said the funds will be used for continuing improvements; staff will carry out procurement and project scheduling consistent with borough procedures.
The grants add to the borough’s capital resources for municipal building upgrades. Council will monitor project timelines, and any formal contracts or change orders will return to council for approval as required.
