At the start of the July 27 meeting the Newport Zoning Board of Review handled consent and summary calendar items quickly. Secretary Russ Johnson read several petitions on the summary calendar; the board treated them on the consent calendar, adopted staff findings and granted relief subject to the board's standard conditions (projects to be started and substantially complete within 12 months; outstanding public‑notice invoices paid before recording).
The board specifically granted the dormer variance for Alexander and Eleanor Donland at 7 Malborn Road (3 feet from the side property line where 10 feet is required). The vice chairman summarized the standard motion, asking the board to “adopt the board’s finding of fact, information, staff reports, supporting plans and documents and adopt the board’s conclusion of law” and to condition grants on the 12‑month start and completion requirement. The approvals were unanimous on these consent items.
