Union City council approves CDBG application for Municipal Lot #1 stormwater repairs

Union City Borough Council voted Sept. 16 to submit an application to the county for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds of up to $100,000 to pay for a portion of stormwater system repairs in Municipal Lot #1. The motion was made by Councilor Steadman and seconded by Councilor Osborn and carried unanimously.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told council that Mansfield will fill a sinkhole, replace about 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin before the borough completes a smoke-and-dye test of the storm line. The borough is waiting for paving quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving and plans to notify affected business owners and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department before testing.
