Union City awards $22,295 contract to repair sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips briefed council on a sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1 that required replacement of a 24‑inch clay tile, reconnection of pipes feeding the sinkhole, installation of a larger catch basin and roughly 10 feet of pipe replacement.
Two estimates were presented: Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450. Council approved the motion to hire Mansfield to perform the work for $22,295; the borough will provide a truck during the project. The motion (mover: Councilor Steadman; second: Councilor Osborn) carried unanimously.
