City designates bank and newspaper, approves wage increases and provides SDDOT update

On Oct. 9 the Viborg City Council designated Merchants State Bank as the city’s official bank and The New Era Newspaper as the official newspaper on a motion by Jared Voog, seconded by Neal Hanson. Council discussed certificate-of-deposit options and decided not to invest in a CD at this time.
Council approved six‑month wage reviews effective with the current payroll: Finance Officer Brandy Skonhovd to $23 per hour and Mary Clayton to $19 per hour (motion by Travis Kolthoff, second by Shelley DeJong). Finance Officer Skonhovd also reported on Pifer’s Auction settlement and SDDOT Hwy 19 Project progress (chip sealing complete; pavement marking pending), and noted funding opportunities from Vermillion Basin Water Development and discussion of an LIIP funding extension.
