Public Works Supervisor Dustin Riggs told council crews have been working long days to install a water main at the Parma airport; once that project is complete the crew will begin constructing new dog kennels for the police department. Three new water meters were installed in the previous week, the report said, and the plan is to tear down the old police department building after new kennels are operational.
Police Chief Robert Topie reported the department can construct the new kennels in-house for roughly $4,000; the plans have been reviewed by the city building inspector and appear simple. Chief Topie also said the department's newest officer has completed training and can now access department systems independently.
