Parma police report reduced drug-house activity, cameras curb graffiti; Officer Smith to receive statewide award

Parma Police Chief Robert Topie told the City Council on March 10 that recent problems with a local drug house have subsided and that graffiti incidents declined after the city installed cameras at the skate park and other locations. The chief said the cameras have reduced further tagging since installation.
Chief Topie also announced that Officer Smith was selected by the Idaho State Elks Drug Awareness Commission to receive the Enrique “KIKI” Camarena Award for 2025–2026 and will be recognized at the Idaho Falls ISEA State Convention. Council member Ransey Portenier praised the officer’s visible presence, saying the officer’s patrols “have been noticed around town on the weekends and its nice to see him out and about and he is doing a great job.”
