"I added activity fees because I previously, it just said to go to somewhere and look for it, so I just wanted everything accessible to families," Drew said, describing the handbook changes intended to make information easier for parents and students. He also noted a new playing-time policy that clarifies varied expectations by level, and a social media policy that outlines that violations will be "addressed based on severity and frequency and handled by Charlie and I."
Drew said the handbook adds clearer communication steps for parents and athletes—requiring students to speak with coaches first and escalating meetings if issues remain unresolved—and includes guidance on injury return-to-play procedures that require clearance by medical professionals. The handbook also removes a clause on transporting students to off-site practices and clarifies that students go home only with parents or when district permission is provided in writing.
The board approved the handbook on a motion by Gina, seconded by Jenna. Chair Jones welcomed Drew to Annandale following the vote.
