The Murfreesboro City Council approved two equipment purchases for the Street Department on July 23: a bucket truck for $217,167 and a package of Caterpillar equipment for $154,811.
Tracy (speaker 8) told the council the bucket truck, to be used by the tree crew, will replace a 2006 International in poor condition and will be purchased through a Sourcewell cooperative contract; funding comes from the FY26 CIP with a $6,200 reallocation. "The total cost is $217,167 and will be funded through the fiscal year 26 CIP budget," the presenter said.
The presenter also described Caterpillar equipment purchases (compact track loader, forestry mulcher, an 80-inch industrial bucket) from Thompson Machinery for $154,811, funded from the FY26 CIP with a $10,900 reallocation. Both purchases were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Staff said the equipment would supplement and replace aging fleet units and support ongoing street and vegetation work.
