City accepts $94,813 HEART grant for an accessible WeGo swing at McKnight Park

On July 23 the Murfreesboro City Council accepted a HEART grant from the Tennessee Department of Health totaling $94,813 to purchase a WeGo accessible wheelchair swing to be installed at Miracle Field Playground at McKnight Park.
A staff presenter described the grant as fully funded and a federal pass-through requiring council approval. "This is a nonmatching fully funded grant," the presenter said, adding that council approval was required because it is a pass-through. Staff noted community requests for this amenity and showed a picture of the swing to the council during the presentation.
Council moved, seconded and approved acceptance by roll call. Staff said the swing would add an accessible amenity at one of the city's parks and acknowledged constituent input that prompted the project.
