Town arranges PFAS testing of private well near closed Lincoln landfill, saving approximately $3,200

Town Administrator Trish Waugh reported that PFAS compounds had been detected in groundwater at the closed Lincoln landfill and the State’s requirements include sampling the shared private drinking water well serving 1060 and 1061 Downingsville Road. A consultant had quoted about $4,000 to collect and analyze samples, but Trish said Endyne Laboratories in Williston can perform EPA Method 533 analysis for $792, yielding an estimated savings of approximately $3,200.
Trish said she would coordinate sample collection with Michelle Graziosi of the Vermont Waste Management and Prevention Division on Monday, July 13, to coincide with Graziosi’s planned visit to the landfill to identify trees that require removal as part of compliance work. The Selectboard recorded the sampling plan and the Town will deliver the sample to Endyne for analysis once collected.
