Londonderry planning commission adds Housing Commission to Town Plan update, taps WRC assistance

The Londonderry Planning Commission voted on April 13 to include the Housing Commission as a formal participant in the town’s forthcoming Town Plan update. Pamela J. Spaulding moved to add the Housing Commission under New Business; Chair Brent Bammarito seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

The commission discussed technical support for the update. Pamela reported that Matt Bachler of the Windham Regional Commission (WRC) presented to the Selectboard about ACT 181 and indicated the town is "on track" for Tier 1b; he is available to help with the Town Plan and is often paid through grants for such work. William Goodwin, the town’s zoning administrator, said he also can assist. Commissioners agreed the Municipal Review Tool could be used as a guideline and that an accompanying paperwork document must be completed at the end of the revision process.

Brent Bammarito will present the plan update to the Selectboard at its May 18 meeting; William Goodwin said he would attend to answer technical questions, and Pamela Spaulding and Trevor Powers indicated they would also attend. Pamela said she will touch base with Selectboard member Aileen to confirm whether William’s statement should be included in the Selectboard packet.

Next steps recorded in the minutes include continued outreach to abutting towns to verify their plan updates, involving the Cemetery Commission in plan discussions, and inviting one committee at a time to the Planning Commission’s Visitors/Concerned Citizens agenda to streamline review.
