City staff provided a preliminary estimate of $150,000 for repairs to Canal Road to meet a small cities grant deadline. Interim City Manager Analeis Weidlich said potholes are already affecting garbage truck operations and that service for end-of-road houses could cease in winter; mail service was also raised as a potential issue.
Council President Tuttle suggested residents consider a common mailbox farther west as a partial mitigation. Council also noted a property at 0 Dogwood is for sale and potential future development there could change traffic and maintenance needs.
