Police report: 88 calls in two weeks, department accreditation, and scooter ordinance review requested

Police Chief Randy Haugh told council the department logged 88 calls for service in the last two weeks and thanked officers for swift response to two fatal car accidents in the township; he said officers return to village duties once the sheriff or highway patrol have the scene. Haugh also said Strasburg is the only police department in the county to have received a certificate of accreditation.
Haugh provided an ordinance from another municipality for the village's legal counsel to review that would grant authority to cite parents regarding electric scooters and bikes. He also noted Officer Svab is working 40 hours a week now that school is out and that the department is monitoring golf carts for license plates and doing safety talks for students.
