Council moves to revise floodplain rules to comply with FEMA guidance

Following a FEMA webinar, Interim City Manager Analeis Weidlich told council that the City must modify its floodplain ordinances to preserve residents' access to flood insurance. Council President Tuttle moved to revise the ordinances to comply with FEMA requirements and to notify the appropriate authority; Mayor Barhyte seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Analeis Weidlich explained that a model code has been released and that modifying the floodplain ordinance is the path Rivergrove can take to demonstrate progress to FEMA even if the City cannot meet an immediate deadline. The council emphasized it would follow the normal ordinance revision process, including public notice and hearings.
