Ely also reported an incident where Engine 1202 struck a pole returning from training; the pole was replaced by AEP, the driver was drug tested, and the department is working with insurance and estimates. The chief recognized multiple training completions: Connor Stewart completed Firefighter II and Aiden Gardner completed Volunteer Firefighter class (pending age-based activation), and Assistant Chief Ross Gardner passed the National Registry Advanced EMT test.
