The Strasburg Village Council on Tuesday approved Resolution 2026-21, an emergency resolution authorizing the hiring of a full-time police officer. The council voted unanimously to suspend the three-reading requirement and adopt the measure, which takes effect immediately.
Legal Counsel Terry Seeberger swore in Elizabeth Cottrell at the meeting. Police Chief Randy Haugh told the council Cottrell currently serves as a captain in Uhrichsville and brings years of experience; Haugh also noted Cottrell’s husband is a deputy sheriff with Tuscarawas County. Council recorded the start date for the officer as June 29.
