Board to post K–12 capacity; first and fourth grades projected full next year

The Osage City School Board reviewed proposed K–12 capacity figures that the district plans to post publicly May 1 and flagged potential capacity constraints for next school year.
Superintendent (voice 6) said capacity figures are presented per grade and do not include preschool: "Capacity is only related to K 12. It's preschool is not included in that," he said. He noted that the district projects enrollment that would leave first grade and fourth grade without open seats and estimated kindergarten enrollment around 45 students next year, down from a class of 54 graduating this year.
The superintendent said the administration will bring an action item next month to formally designate the posted capacity numbers and that the district must post the number of open seats per grade for prospective nonresident students during the application window.
