Board approves 10¢ meal-price increase and Highlands milk bid for 2026–27

The superintendent (S3) recommended a districtwide 10¢ increase for student meals to keep pace with rising food costs for the 2026–27 school year. Chair (S2) moved to approve the increase and the board recorded an affirmative vote.
Staff also recommended awarding the milk bid to Highland based on cost and vendor terms. S3 said Highland can take a 100% buyback on milk and does not impose a fuel surcharge; projected milk cost for the 2026–27 year was presented as $31,120. The board moved and voted to approve the Highland Milk bid in that amount.
Board members noted participation levels were steady year over year and that the 10¢ increment has been a routine approach in past years to keep costs aligned with inflation in food prices.
