Board adopts 'Big Ideas' math resources for high school

The Osage City School Board voted March 12 to adopt the 'Big Ideas' math resource series for the high school to align with elementary and middle-school materials.
Superintendent (voice 6) described the decision as selecting resources to address standards rather than calling it a new curriculum: "I call it resources because it's really just resources to address standards that are being taught in the classroom," he said. The adoption focuses on Algebra I first, with Algebra II and geometry resources slated to follow so course content and terminology align districtwide.
Board members noted the elementary and middle schools have already started using parts of the package and emphasized access will include classroom textbook sets plus online editions where needed. The superintendent said typical licensing and access arrangements for similar resources have been six years, and the board approved the motion to adopt the series for the upcoming school year.
