Superintendent/administrator (S3) presented a feasibility-study update and a proposal from Pearson Design for additional services to continue work on "concept C," which staff recommend carrying forward toward a possible bond election. The proposal covers additional design tasks, town halls and plan updates; S3 outlined a submission timeline with design updates to be finalized for state submittal by June 29 and a July board meeting planned to move the state application.
Board members discussed potential grant opportunities (Jones Foundation, Patterson Family Foundation) and how those might affect scope or items included in the bond package. The superintendent noted that MCP will provide cost estimates at no charge during the next few weeks to help set a final number. Chair (S2) moved to approve the additional services proposal; the board seconded the motion and voted in favor.
Board discussion touched on possible use of capital outlay funds for architectural services and on prioritizing lease-purchase items (secure entrances, maintenance building, auditorium lighting and parking). Staff said they will incorporate committee input, finalize language with the bond finance company (Piper Sandler) and return with a plan for the August meeting and the state application process that could result in a November ballot question.
