Chair (S2) announced that a board member (identified in the minutes as Tyler) submitted a resignation at the end of last month's meeting and said the board must open the seat and publish notice. The board reviewed the geographic description of the open district seat (inside the school district but outside Osage City limits; portions of Osage City north of the center line of Lang Street/Kansas Highway 31 and east of the center line of 9th Street) and the clerk confirmed staff will publish notice in the Osage County Herald-Chronicle.
Chair moved to "adopt the following resolution" noting that "K.S.A. 25-2022 authorizes a board of education to fill such vacancies no sooner than 15 days following publication of notice in a newspaper having general circulation in the school district." The motion was seconded and the board recorded ayes. Board members will sign the resolution and the clerk will forward it to the county official named as Ted in the discussion for processing.
The vacancy posting starts the 15-day waiting period before the board may fill the seat by appointment; the board discussed timing and confirmed staff will include the role's boundary description in the public notice.
