MPO changes may shift funding for Oak Street project, Rogue River mayor says

Mayor Pam VanArsdale reported the Middle Rogue Metropolitan Planning Organization met earlier that day and approved changes to the Transportation Improvement Program approval matrix intended to streamline amendments. She said the Service Transportation Block Grant fund that supported the Oak Street update is being phased out and that replacement funding could mean more gas-tax money available to smaller cities. "It gives us a base of $25,000 dollars over a three-year period instead of having to compete for funding with the larger cities," VanArsdale said.
The council did not take formal action on the MPO update; the report was informational and flagged as background for upcoming street-design options to be discussed at a Dec. 5 workshop.
