John W. Coffee described Indian Harbour Beach as having "lean operations and healthy reserves," saying the city is debt-free and keeps more than a year's operating reserves in the bank to help weather downturns without rapid tax increases.
"Another hallmark of IHB, a source of pride, is that we are a debt free city, and we have very healthy financial reserves," Coffee said. He added the reserves earn interest and provide the city flexibility to address emergencies or economic downturns without needing to sharply increase tax rates.
