During the public-comment period, Anne Marie DeStefano of the North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection invited residents to "Coastal Futures, the Path Forward," an April 18 presentation at St. Mary By The Sea Parish Hall by University of Oregon master's students on tourism, food systems, erosion, flooding and resilience for North Coast communities.
Michael Weisenflue delivered a memorial tribute to John Gertson, a longtime volunteer and local craftsman who helped organize repair-cafe activities and advocated for improvements to Phillips Baker Park. Weisenflue said he and others will continue Gertson’s work on the park and invited community participation.
Councilors thanked both speakers and noted the community events and volunteer contributions cited during public comment.
