Rockaway Beach public works reports $8M paving, Madonna Beach water-main work and DEQ water-source protection award

Mertz said Bayview Asphalt is the subcontractor on the paving work and that project notices and a web project page with QR code are in use to communicate water-service disruptions to residents and second-homeowners. She announced the city received a Drinking Water Source Protection Award from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality — "The City of Rockaway Beach is one of only 15 cities in the entire state of Oregon that has received this award," she said — and noted the city holds an Oregon Health Authority recognition concurrently, a distinction she said only five or six cities in the state have achieved.
Councilors praised the public works staff and said the awards reflect teamwork across departments. Mertz advised residents to watch posted notices and the city project page for updates about water-service interruptions.
