Rockaway Beach council closes past grants and approves 2025–26 small community grant awards

The Rockaway Beach City Council on April 8 formally deemed two previous grant awards complete and approved new small-community-grant awards for the 2025–26 cycle.
Council voted unanimously to determine the Meals for Seniors 2024–25 large community grant complete after a closeout report from Teresa Bruno, who said the program served 18,515 meals in 2025 (a 34% increase from 2024) and that volunteers contributed more than 10,000 hours. The council likewise unanimously closed out the Friends of the Rockaway Beach Library 2024–25 small community grant after a presentation noting repairs to ramp railings and additional volunteer-funded costs.
Later the council adopted Resolution 2026-18, approving awards for the 2025–26 small community grant program; the resolution followed planning commission pre-scoring and recommendations. Councilors praised the thoroughness of the closeout reports and the planning commission’s review process; the vote on Resolution 2026-18 was unanimous.
