Chamber updates, Tree City minutes accepted; mayor asks staff to pursue plaque for Don Moody

Barb Hilty, Chamber of Commerce liaison, reported community events and programming plans during the Aug. 22 meeting, saying there will be no mixer in September, a mixer is planned to explore medical insurance options, organizers are considering teenage and family activities for Rooster Crow 2025, Bingo will return in the fall, and monthly dinners resume in September with a 1920s-themed dinner.
The council also accepted the Tree City Committee minutes for July 11 and August 8, 2024; the minutes text includes a transcription error (listed as "July 11111") that has been corrected in this report to July 11, 2024. Mayor VanArsdale asked staff to follow up on producing a plaque honoring Don Moody. At the end of the meeting Councilor Sherrie Moss thanked Rogue River Press reporter Brian Mortensen, saying he "did a tremendous job in accurately reporting on the event."
