City Manager Sheppard presented the results of community nominations for Grand Marshal and Volunteer of the Year. Sheppard reported there were many submissions — about 25 nominations for Volunteer of the Year and 21 for Grand Marshal — and that Leon and Terry Brunel surfaced as unanimous first-place selections for Volunteer of the Year while Barbara Trout ranked near-unanimous for Grand Marshal.
Councilors expressed appreciation for nominees and discussed next steps; Sheppard said staff will prepare a resolution for the awards so that the council can take formal action at a regular meeting. No award was adopted at the workshop; councilors noted they cannot finalize awards during a workshop.
