Board adopts annual governance resolutions and KSB policy updates

The board adopted a home rule resolution and a resolution to waive certain GAAP and fixed-asset accounting requirements for the coming year as part of the annual housekeeping. Trustees also approved a resolution rescinding policy statements recorded in board minutes.
Superintendent reviewed the KSB policy updates required by federal and state guidance. Changes covered emergency drill language (no active-shooter simulations with students in the building), updated discrimination/harassment grievance terminology, Title I parent engagement clarifications, graduation requirements (students must complete two accomplishments demonstrating readiness), online-communication expectations for district staff, attendance and truancy protocols and foster-care enrollment/transportation rules including a two-business-day record transfer requirement.
Board members asked questions about specific sections; the superintendent said the redline changes were in the packet and that a more detailed student-handbook recommendation would return in August. The board moved to adopt the KSB policy recommendations as presented.
