Colfax’s new brush truck responded to its first incident and, according to the fire department, performed as expected.
Firefighter David Buckley told the council the unit responded to a fire on South Palouse River Road; Engine 1 was staged on Valleyview as a precaution and there was a grass buffer between the burning shed and nearby trees. Buckley said the department did not initially report the incident as arson but that the homeowner expressed concern the fire might have been set deliberately. The Pullman Fire Inspector is investigating the incident.
The transcript does not include a determination of cause; the investigation by Pullman’s inspector is the active next step noted in the meeting.
