Pool renovation advances; Chamber luncheon, Winterfest planning, and Trick-or-Treat set

Mayor Retzer reported progress on pool renovations including gutter removal, concrete work and an ADA restroom addition; the Chamber luncheon Oct. 8 will feature Port of Whitman’s Kara Riebold on a childcare facility, Winterfest planning on Oct. 9, and Main Street Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 25.
Mayor Jim Retzer reported the city is making construction progress at the pool: scaffolding is in place to remove the gutter system, concrete has been removed around light posts and fixtures, holes were cut for plumbing, and an ADA restroom is being added to the front of the pool house. Retzer said WMS is overseeing work and emphasized that the site remains a construction zone with safety fencing.
Retzer also announced upcoming community events: the Chamber quarterly luncheon on Oct. 8 (12–1 p.m.) with Kara Riebold of the Port of Whitman speaking about a planned childcare facility in Colfax; a Winterfest planning meeting on Oct. 9 (6–7:30 p.m.); Main Street Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 25 (3:30–5:30 p.m.) with Kiwanis staffing crosswalks; and an Eagles pumpkin carving event on Oct. 27. Councilmember McRae suggested monthly progress reports with photos to the paper.
