Golden outlines greenway feasibility study; public meeting set for Oct. 16

Councilmember Blaine Golden updated the Colfax City Council on Oct. 7 that the Colfax Greenway Trail Citizen Group has completed a donor-funded feasibility study examining how a trail might fit along the unused rail corridor. Golden said the group engaged a Spokane landscape company and a title company to identify property owners and draft design and cost estimates, and that the feasibility work should be finished next spring.
Golden told the council the group held an unsuccessful grant application but used donor funding to finish the study; he announced a public information meeting for Oct. 16, 6:30–7:30 p.m. He cautioned the project cannot move forward without permission from WATCO and WSDOT and noted that WSDOT is conducting a separate transportation study on the rail system that won’t conclude until 2026.
