Merkel site work largely completed; Commission asks for revegetation photos before closing enforcement order

Shannon Boomsma of White Engineering reported to the Conservation Commission that at 1277 Hartsville Mill River Road the fence in the Riverfront Area had been removed, silt fence corrected, the DEP sign posted, and trenches backfilled and seeded. Boomsma requested that the Commission close the Enforcement Order.
Commissioners said they preferred to confirm revegetation and agreed to continue the order until photos showing revegetation are submitted no later than September 1, 2026. Boomsma offered to supply photos to avoid another site visit. The motion to continue the order until photos are submitted carried 4-0-0.
The Commission will review submitted photos to determine whether a site visit is needed to verify revegetation before closing the enforcement order.
