Board members conducted first readings and discussed multiple policy updates recommended by OSBA. Several changes were characterized as technical or procedural; the board agreed to move many through to a second reading or defer a few items to January for further review.
A staff member (Speaker 2) described a set of DB-series edits that replace the word "superintendent" with "business manager" in places where the business manager prepares documents and administers procedures. The board also discussed admission price authority: staff proposed changing policy so the superintendent determines admission prices based on the athletic director's recommendations rather than reserving that determination for the board. One board member summarized the change: "Because right now, it's the board will determine based on the recommendations of the superintendent, and we're wanting to change it to the superintendent will determine based on the recommendations of the athletic director." (Speaker 1)
Directors asked staff to prepare proposed language for second reading and to bring back a consolidated, clean set of redlines for the next meeting so the board can vote formally on the changes.
