Staff also explained how high-cost special-education funding is handled: "This is it'll end up high cost disability, which, see if I can explain this right over $30,000 for a student. Everything over that you submit, and then there's a state pot of money that they use to reimburse back to districts for the high cost. Last year was about 40% reimbursement over that 30,000," a staff member said.
A board member moved to approve the hires and the motion passed by voice vote. Board members emphasized the goal of converting to long-term positions when possible and acknowledged the temporary nature of the starter contracts.
