Mayor Tommy Sikes called the Town of Gila Bend special meeting to order at 3:30 p.m., led the Pledge of Allegiance and was followed by an invocation from Councilmember Mary Vinzant.
The clerk recorded attendance: Mayor Tommy Sikes, Vice‑Mayor Chris Riggs, Councilmembers Scott Swanson, Mary Vinzant and Fernando Fernandez were present; Councilmembers Donny Young and Will Sipes were absent. The public comment period produced no speakers.
The council took one substantive item: a motion by Vice‑Mayor Chris Riggs, seconded by Councilmember Fernando Fernandez, to extend the town's Waste Management contract for three months, ending June 30, 2026. The motion passed unanimously with five ayes and two absences. The meeting record contains no further discussion of the contract.
Vice‑Mayor Chris Riggs then moved to adjourn at 3:33 p.m.; the motion passed and the meeting was certified. Interim Town Clerk Pat Riggs later attested in the meeting minutes: "I hereby certify that the foregoing minutes are a true and correct copy of the Council meeting held on March 26, 2026, and that the meeting was duly called and posted and that a quorum was present."
