The Gila Bend Town Council voted unanimously on March 10 to adopt Ordinance No. 2026‑02, which amends the town's Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations to comply with state law, including revisions to Planning and Zoning Commission procedures and authorization for administrative review and approval for certain site plans and plats.
Community Planner Sandra Hoffman summarized the public review process, work sessions, and the Planning and Zoning Commission's 4‑0 recommendation to approve the text amendments. "When presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission they recommended 4‑0 to approve the recommended to Council," Hoffman said.
Vice‑Mayor Chris Riggs moved to adopt the ordinance and Councilmember Fernando Fernandez seconded. The motion passed unanimously (Ayes 5; Councilmembers Donny Young and Will Sipes were absent). The amendment package revises Title 15 (Chapter 154) and the Town's Subdivision Regulations (Chapter 12) to add or clarify administrative procedures and appeal processes in order to align local code with A.R.S. § 9‑500.49.
