Town Manager Katherine Valenzuela reported the council delegation attended the West Valley Mayors & Managers meeting where Andra Kester‑Thomas, executive director of the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), briefed attendees on Prop 479, the successor funding structure to Prop 400. Valenzuela said Valley Metro is considering cost containment measures to reduce operating expenses while trying to minimize impacts to riders.
Valenzuela also provided local project updates: Mary Dalton is preparing a report on fire district implementation expected in the coming weeks, and the Newtown development is approximately 85% complete. Council members were invited to a walkthrough of Newtown prior to its completion. The manager noted future agenda items will include HR and MCSO topics.
