MCSO: Gila Bend sees mostly service‑oriented calls; some property and vehicle offenses persist

Sergeant Trent Loveless of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office presented an overview of local crime trends at the April 14 meeting. He said the majority of calls for service in Gila Bend remain service‑oriented—welfare checks, motorist assistance, follow‑up investigations and assistance to other agencies—while property‑related thefts and occasional vehicle offenses continue at levels consistent with past trends.

Loveless noted Gila Bend’s location along a major travel corridor contributes to encounters with a transient population and traffic‑related activity, such as stranded motorists and suspicious activity by people passing through. He said deputies are maintaining a proactive posture through high‑visibility patrols, traffic enforcement, and preventive checks including vacation and business checks.
