The Newkirk Board of Commissioners convened a special work session at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2026 at the Commissioner’s Meeting Room, 107 W. 7th St. Mayor Kellie Johnson presided; Vice Mayor Joe Anderson and Commissioner Jack Bagg were recorded present. Interim Treasurer Stacy Lamar and City Attorney W.L. Stout were listed as absent.
During the meeting Commissioners Anderson and Bagg moved and seconded the procedural motions to enter executive session at 1:30 p.m. and to reconvene at 2:00 p.m.; roll calls on both motions recorded ayes from Anderson, Bagg and Johnson. The minutes reflect that commissioners discussed City Manager employment matters in closed session under the cited statutory authority.
After reconvening, the minutes record that an offer has been made to an applicant and that no further action will be taken until the applicant responds. The meeting was adjourned at 2:10 p.m. on a motion by Commissioner Bagg, seconded by Commissioner Anderson. The minutes include a line stating they were passed in session and approved Jan. 12, 2026, and attested by City Clerk Sarah Lockwood.
