Newkirk library readies summer program, winter bingo and events calendar

Library staff told the commission Jan. 12 they are organizing a summer reading program, running a winter bingo program with donated prize baskets, conducting a survey for new activities and starting an events calendar.
Librarian Amy Lewellen told the commission Jan. 12 that the library is organizing its summer reading program, currently running a winter bingo program with community-donated prize baskets, collecting a survey of ideas for new activities and preparing an events calendar.
Lewellen said community sponsors have provided gift baskets for prizes and that the library hopes the survey will generate new programming ideas. No additional funding or staffing requests were presented to the commission at the meeting.
The library update was presented during the department communications portion of the agenda; commissioners had no follow-up motions related to the programs at that meeting.
